Maoist Chairman and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda suddenly broke the alliance with the Congress and formed a new alliance. After the alliance broke up on February 21, talks with the Congress were almost stopped. But within three weeks, there has been news that there was an hour-long discussion between Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Prime Minister Prachanda in Baluwatar.
Two days later, the two leaders met again. Congress leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula ran for the National Assembly election because Prachanda had promised to make him the Speaker of the National Assembly. Sitaula is also angry with Prachanda for breaking the alliance without fulfilling his promise.
Lately, it was Sitaula who was active in creating an environment for Prachanda and Deuba to meet. Sitaula is one such person, who was very active in bringing the Maoists to the peace process. Regardless of whether it is a different party, Sitaula is a trusted character even of Prachanda. That may be why Prachanda promised Sitaula as the President of the National Assembly.
Various speculations are being made about the meeting between Deuba and Dahal. On the one hand, there is turmoil in the leadership of the state government, on the other hand, since the day the new government was formed, the Congress has been raising tough questions on Ravi Lamichhane, the chairman of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RASWPA).
In the meantime, UML president KP Sharma Oli has rejected Prachanda's proposal to join the Samajwadi Front. Amid these developments, the future of the new alliance is in doubt. Where Prachanda is trying to take the country's politics has become a matter of interest.
