Rajesh Shrestha of Tinau rural municipality-2, Dobhan said that there has been a fire in the Chure area forest here for a week. According to him, fires have also broken out in community forests and forests in hilly areas.

Fire has broken out in various places in Chure region as well as in Mahabharat region. Sher Bahadur Thapa, a local resident, said that the fire coming from the Terai side could not be extinguished if it came close to the house. It is not possible to approach as drought and wind can bring danger with flames.


Even though awareness programs have been conducted for the community forest, the situation of drought has worsened. Forest officer Sanyog Basnet said that although the wildfires did not affect the salla which does not regenerate, the fire in the wide-leaved forest will affect it. He said that the fire in the dense forest will cause problems even though it will not be affected because the grass will grow and the insects and grasshoppers will die in the forest.

Jamire, Rahwas, Gothadi, Dobhan, Kachal, Masyam, Baldhenggarhi, Satyavati forests have been burning for two weeks, the locals said. Local consumers say that shepherds who go to the forest to graze, mischievous children and wood smugglers who steal poachers set fire to the forest. Valuable herbs such as Amla, Harro, Burro, Cinnamon, Ganegurjo, Pipla, Sisni etc. in the forests of Chure area are also destroyed due to fire.
