In Khotang, an old man was burnt to death while extinguishing a fire in a community forest.
85-year-old Siddhi Bahadur Shrestha of Haramtar, Rawabensi Rural Municipality-1, Kuvinde, was burnt to death.
Kubinde Ward President Gehendraman Rai said that Shrestha was burnt to death while trying to put out the fire which he had started by himself to destroy the grass and leaves gathered in the field.
He said that during the search, the body was found burnt by the fire. Deputy Superintendent of Police Purushottam Khadka informed that the fire in the community forest has not yet been brought under control.
The police have been mobilized along with local residents to control the fire. Local residents have said that the fire has reached the office of Rawabensi rural municipality below Harmatar.
There is a fire in most of the community forests of Khotang, which has ten local levels.
