Voting is going on enthusiastically in the by-elections of the House of Representatives Ilam-2. Chief Election Officer Keshav Prasad Ghimire informed that about 40,000 votes had been cast by 1:00. He said, "The polling has been peaceful so far due to the enthusiastic participation of the voters." In the by-election, 19 candidates including 12 political parties and seven independents are in the election competition.
UML's Suhang Nemwang voted at 7:30 am at Mahendra Ratna Campus in Ilam. Nepali Congress candidate Dumbar Khadka also voted in the same center.
Similarly, Milan Limwu of the National Independent Party voted in Mangsewung-2 Janata Kalyan Amavima and identity candidate Dakendra Sin Thegim Limvu voted in the morning at Singhadevi Mavi in Phakphokthum Rural Municipality on Friday.
Chief District Officer of Ilam Indradev Yadav stated that voting is going on peacefully in all the polling centers of Ilam and said that there has been no untoward incident so far. There are 149 polling centers in Ilam-2.
According to District Election Office Ilam, there are 34 thousand 45 voters in Ilam Municipality (except Ward No. 10), 26 thousand 365 voters in Deumai Municipality and 8 thousand 96 voters in wards 6, 7 and 8 of Mai Municipality .
Similarly, there are 18 thousand 545 voters in Chulachuli Rural Municipality, 12 thousand 536 voters in Mangsebung Rural Municipality, 16 thousand 302 voters in Phakphokthum Rural Municipality and a total of 115 thousand 889 voters.
According to the district administration office, 1,363 policemen have been mobilized in 149 polling stations of 79 polling stations.
