Finance Minister Varshman has returned home after his visit to America. The minister returned to the country on Saturday after participating in the joint spring meeting of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) held in Washington DC. He left for that on Monday leading a four-member Nepalese delegation.

In addition to participating in the World Bank and Monetary Fund meetings, the Minister also participated in the V-20 Ministerial Meeting of the Group of Countries Threatened by the Impact of Climate Change, the sideline meeting on the High Level Climate Nexus and the session on clean energy transition in South Asia as well as various bilateral and multilateral meetings.

The World Bank's Managing Director of Operations Ana Wierde, the World Bank's Vice President for South Asia Martin Razer, the World Bank's Development Finance (DFI) Vice President for Operations Akihiko Nisio, the World Bank's Vice President for Infrastructure Sector Guangzhe Chen, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Vice President Riccardo Puliti and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Assistant Managing Director Bo-Li met.

Minister Pun held separate meetings with senior officials of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), officials of the American International Development Finance Corporation (DFP), representatives of the private sector including the American Chamber of Commerce, and non-resident Nepalis there. In

speeches and meetings, Minister Pun urged international investors to participate in the 3rd International Investment Conference to be held on 17th and 16th Baisakh. He appealed to invest in Nepal's energy, agriculture, tourism and information technology sectors. He informed the international community, investors and development partners that the government is going to amend about a dozen laws that are considered unfavorable for investment through an ordinance to create an atmosphere for the investment conference.

In an interaction with the officials of the US Chamber of Commerce, he said that Nepal is an attractive destination for international investors.

Minister Pun while addressing the sideline session titled 'Renewable Energy Transition in Asia' said that Nepal's progress in hydropower is important for the promotion of clean and renewable energy in the South Asian region. During that time, representatives of development partner organizations including the World Bank promised to participate in the investment conference at a high level, saying that Nepal is becoming a suitable environment for investment.
